Things to do in south Texas Memorial Day weekend 2017
Memorial Day is fast approaching, can you believe it? Show of hands—who still has one or two Christmas or Valentine’s Day decorations up? No judgment here! Time really flies, doesn’t it? At any rate, Memorial Day takes place on May 29th this year, and the entire weekend is widely seen as the unofficial kickoff to summer. With that in mind, there are plenty of things to do in south Texas Memorial Day weekend 2017, and we’re going to talk about a few here. Read on for the details!
It just would not be Memorial Day in Victoria without the Memorial Weekend Bash! We are proud to be a part of this celebration, which takes place at the Victoria Community Center Fairgrounds. Enjoy two stages of live music with over 20 acts, food, games, and loads of family fun!
If you are in the Tomball area and enjoy the spicy side of life, this chili cook-off may be right up your alley! Old style country music and chili from teams all across southeast Texas will be on the offering. The fun starts at 10 a.m. on the 27th at Tomball’s downtown Depot!
You do not necessarily have to participate in an organized event to have a great Memorial Day weekend. Make a trip down to San Jose Island. While the island is privately owned, you can still visit the public beach below the vegetation line, which still offers tremendous views!
Another beautiful part of this great state is the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. Here you can take a hike on the various nature trails, do some fishing, ride your bike, and take in so many different spectacular views that this unique landscape has to offer.
